About this event
Celebrate the 5th Anniversary of the Seattle Catrinas Festival, an immersive, multigenerational gathering honoring the timeless Mexican tradition of Día de Muertos. Step into a vibrant sanctuary of remembrance featuring grand community altars (ofrendas), monumental Catrinas, authentic artisan markets, and breathtaking folkloric performances. Through music, color, and candlelight, this landmark cultural celebration invites us to remember that beneath the surface, we are all united, honoring those who walked before us while rejoicing in the gift of life.
Far from a solemn occasion or a fear-laden spectacle, Día de Muertos is an uplifting philosophy: an invitation to embrace mortality as a mirror to our shared humanity, rendering every moment sacred. Under this year’s guiding ethos, “Enjoy Your Life and Embrace Your Death,” the festival bridges ancient Mesoamerican heritage and contemporary Pacific Northwest community spirit. Whether arriving in full Catrina gala attire or attending for the first time with family, audiences will find a transformative space for communal storytelling, cultural reverence, and celebration.
