About this event

Location Link: Capitol Hill Branch Room Location: Meeting Room Registration Required: Registration is not required. Detailed Description: Join us each month to watch an LGBTQ+ film, eat popcorn, and be with your community! In honor of spooky season, we dug up the creepy, modern indie film "Hauntology".

This 2024 supernatural anthology frames a generations long haunting through four ghostly vignettes taking place in Ohio. "Hauntology" is both a runaway road trip and sibling bonding movie, because what makes family closer than the horrors they fight together? About the movie: "Hauntology" follows older sister Jazmin who takes her fearless runaway sibling, Venus, on a road trip.

The siblings make a deal—if Venus will listen to all of Jazmin's ghost stories, and gets scared, they have to go back home. Jazmin shares the most chilling tales surrounding their hometown, embarking on a horror road trip to each haunted location. As they recount this collection of ghost stories though it becomes apparent that the haunting tales have connections—and a hostile spirit is at the heart of it all.

The siblings’ must try to free their family from a generations long haunting because there’s some things you can’t run away from. "Hauntology" is an unabashedly queer, low-budget horror anthology that has an indie feel and unique story. Don’t expect excessive gore or violence, rather a creeping atmosphere that brings a goosebump inducing vibe.

"Hauntology" is written and directed by Parker Brennon, and is their feature directorial debut, originally produced with crowdfunding from Kickstarter. This first premiered at the 2024 Dances With Films Festival and was direct-to-VOD. This film is rated R and includes some gore, violence, jump scares, death, and ghosts.
